Medlock talk Mental Health

As Mental Health Awareness Week draws to a close, we thought we would look back on our efforts throughout the week to help raise awareness and reduce stigma across the business.Firstly, it’s best to start with the facts. As you can see from the numbers below, mental health affects people of all backgrounds regardless of their gender, but suicide rates within the UK are predominantly male.Recent figures suggest that 99% of construction site workers in the UK are male. With this statistic in mind, we felt more than ever, our responsibility to raise awareness and reduce stigma in the industry. To kickstart this, we encouraged Site Managers to place resources from the Mental Health Foundation across our sites, and generally, encourage conversation across our projects.
These talks helped to kickstart conversation on our projects and we are pleased to report that we have already seen an increase in interest in the topic.Although the campaign runs for a week annually, for us, this needs to be something that remains uppermost in our minds throughout the year.
