Here at Medlock, we’re lucky to have so many talented people working with us. Today, we’re spending five minutes with Project Director Dan Lewis. Here’s what he had to say about his time with Medlock so far...

What’s the focus of your role?

It’s my job to oversee the delivery of successful projects for our clients and to ensure those projects meet the exacting standards expected of the Medlock brand. As a company, Medlock is all about people. We get the most skilled people in the right positions, build strong relationships with our clients and produce the best end-product for them. It’s my job to uphold those qualities on every project.

What brought you to Medlock?

I started my career as a trainee technician for Galliford Try after volunteering for them during my school holidays. In my time there, I progressed from trainee technician into a site management role, all while studying for my ONC/ HNC & BSc (Hons). I was eager to further my career and when my studies came to an end, an opportunity came up at Medlock. After meeting the team, I was excited about the opportunity and their plan to grow the business into what it is today. Their work ethic, friendliness and ambition shone through and that was enough for me to know that Medlock was the perfect move for me. I made the jump soon after and started working with them as a site manager.

Tell us about your journey with Medlock

My first project was a great experience with all the hallmarks of the Medlock brand: top-quality workmanship, a commitment to hard work and a great end-product. The project went so well, we handed it over to the client three weeks early.Afterwards, I was offered the opportunity to progress into a project management role and I grabbed the opportunity with both hands. As Medlock grew, I went from managing one project to three or four projects at a time. I relished the challenge and loved nothing more than delivering great results for our clients. This is a passion I carry to this day.In January 2017, I was promoted to the board of directors into my current role of Project Director

What does Medlock mean to you?

From a personal perspective, Medlock has been the perfect business environment for my growth and for me to realise my potential. In terms of the business, the first thing I think about is the people: not just our staff but our clients and supply chain. As a brand, we’re all about friendliness, commitment, hard work and passion for what we do. From initial consultation right through to project delivery, these attributes shine through and are instrumental in us delivering terrific results for our clients, building valuable relationships with our supply chain and developing strong working relationships with colleagues. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about for me.

What do you enjoy about working at Medlock?

The culture. You clock into work on a Monday morning and you feel the excitement, the buzz and the work ethic.Everyone is driven to work hard, to stay committed to the business’s vision and to deliver the best results for our clients. We enjoy what we do and that goes a long way, both when it comes to job satisfaction and getting the best results possible. On top of all that, the variety of the work we do means there’s always a new client to work with. There’s no typical day, that’s for sure.

Any tips for staying sane through lockdown?

I find exercise is a great addition to my daily regime. It helps blow away the cobwebs and is a great excuse to get some fresh air! Also, my new Peloton bike helps. And that’s our five minutes up. We’ll have another five-minute feature in the future. Stay tuned to find out more about our team and our work.
