Showtime in Chippenham

The Medlock team have been awarded the contract to refurbish Chippenham’s only cinema for the family-run operator, Reel Cinemas. The project comes after successfully completing the Burnley Reel Cinema venue last year.Originally built as a theatre in 1939, the building has seen many uses over the years, now containing the existing 2-screen cinema on the first floor, a disused bingo hall on the ground floor, and two derelict retail units to the buildings art-deco frontage. Once complete, the venue will see the existing two screens fully refurbished, plus an additional three screens in the existing bingo hall, almost doubling the number of seats to 700.The new entrance and concession area will extend into the current vacant retail units, giving the building a new frontage externally. Internally a large concession area will welcome guests to relax before catching the last blockbuster movie.To ensure minimum disruption throughout the 18-week project, the works will be completed via a 2 phase approach.
