A sizzling transformation for Flat Iron

Medlock is thrilled to announce the handover of the latest Flat Iron restaurant on Deansgate in Manchester city centre.

This milestone marks the 16th venue for the fast-growing steak brand, which already boasts thirteen sites in London, alongside further locations in Leeds and Cambridge.

Housed in the Grade II listed former home of the Royal London Friendly Society, the restaurant's venue is steeped in history. Most recently, it was home to Blacks outdoor clothing store. A stunning transformation has resulted in a 150-cover restaurant which spans two floors set in a prominent location on one of Manchester’s major arterial routes.

A major focus on preserving the building's historic charm is evident throughout the delivery of the project. Original plasterwork and cornicing have been meticulously exposed, revealing the intricate beauty of yesteryears.

The existing glazed brick walls and timber flooring have been brought back to life, serving as a stunning backdrop to the dining experience. Riveted steel columns stand proudly throughout, adding to the industrial chic ambiance, while the original parquet flooring has been lovingly restored.

Our comprehensive scope of work encompassed full mechanical and electrical installations, including state-of-the-art HVAC system, along with a raft of feature joinery items produced in our workshop and decorative finishes.

The project holds special significance for Manchester born Flat Iron founder, Charlie Carroll, who has been eager to open a venue in his hometown for some time.

We are honoured to have been entrusted with delivering this iconic venue and marks our second collaboration with Flat Iron having completed the fit out of their Leeds venue last year.
