Work takes flight at the Swan Hotel
18 February 2021
Work on the Swan Hotel is in full flow as Medlock looks to transform the 17th Century coaching inn into the Lake District’s premier health and wellness retreat.
As part of this £4.6million development, the Medlock team was tasked with fitting out the old building with all the trappings of a luxury hotel and spa. This includes a boutique restaurant, 28 new guest rooms and state-of-the-art spa facilities.
The project is due for completion in Autumn 2021 and is set to make this Newby Bridge’s go-to spot for great food, upscale accommodation, and pampered luxury.
In addition to the interior, Medlock has also set to work on the foundations for an ambitious open-plan hotel entrance to greet guests as they enter the premises. The hotel will be supported by our work on a spacious waterside car park, allowing guests to take in the beautiful Ambleside views as soon as they park up.
Despite the weather providing some challenging building conditions over the winter months, the Medlock team was able to leverage its passion and commitment to keep the project on track. We’ve completed a new tarmac access road and the new car park is well on the way to being finished by late February.
As well as the surrounding groundworks, the team has started on the foundations for the grand, open-plan entrance. The steel is due for delivery in March and we expect the timber frame to be installed by April. We can’t wait for it to be ready for you all to see.
The refurbishment at the Swan Hotel is exactly the kind of complex project upon which we thrive. We look forward to delivering the project in the Autumn and showing you the fruits of our commitment to top-of-the-line fit-out, refurbishment and building. Stay tuned for our next project update.
