Delivering industry-leading hotel and spa projects

Over the years, Medlock has delivered some fantastic hotel and spa projects for our clients across the UK. As you would expect, quality, comfort and atmosphere are high up on the list of priorities for these kinds of projects. When people come for a relaxing weekend away, they want something a bit special and luxurious. Something outside the everyday. Something indulgent.

This week, we thought we’d put together a short article about what goes into delivering the perfect hotel and spa project. From planning to on-site craftsmanship, here’s how to stand out from the crowd.

Design and planning

On projects where Medlock is brought in from the earliest stages, we can add huge value during the planning and design stage. We’ll get to the bottom of our clients’ requirements, understanding their needs and what they want from the finished product.

From here, we can produce a comprehensive design that will set the project up for success. The design will lay the roadmap for the project, giving clients an accurate cost in line with their budget and removing risk.

Once a robust design is in place, we’ll hit the ground running.

Collaboration

No project can be delivered successfully without collaboration. That’s why we make a point of bringing third party consultants and contractors into our design and planning meetings at the earliest opportunity. Not only does this make sure everyone is on the same page in terms of their role, but it allows us to better work together to deliver a great result in the most streamlined way possible.

Niche expertise

With spas, in particular, there’s a lot of technical expertise required to deliver some of the facilities. At the Swan Hotel - a destination we’re currently renovating in Newby Bridge - we’re installing a stone floor in the spa area instead of a typical tiled floor finish. This niche work adds its challenges to the project. Sauna’s, swimming pools, thermal mud baths and steam rooms all have specific requirements, that if done improperly will yield a poor result, cheapening the experience for the client’s guests.

Above all else, clients want their spas to be quiet retreats of calm, relaxation and luxury. To deliver that experience, the onus is on us to demonstrate attention to detail. We and our clients expect nothing less than perfect installation, sleek finishes and that extra bit of effort to get the job done as it should be.

It's because of our fastidious planning and collaboration with third party suppliers that we’re able to deliver these bespoke products. If we don’t have the expertise in house, we’ll work closely with an artisan to get the result needed. Through rigorous planning, we guarantee that these elements of the build are anticipated and are completed in good time.

Our recent projects

We’ve delivered some of our best hotel and spa projects in the last few years. These include the Ro Hotel on Lake Windemere, Formby Hall Gold Resort and Spa, and the Brimstone Spa at the Langdale hotel. These projects are a testament to our passion and commitment to delivering builds, fit-outs and refurbishments of the highest quality.

We’re currently on-site at The Swan hotel in the Lake District where we’re building a true show-stopper. You can read our latest progress piece on the project here.
