Back in September, we were thrilled to help the not-for-profit community-focused Cafe Van Gogh with their brand new refurbishment in the heart of Brixton, London.Working in conjunction with three charities, Cafe Van Gogh runs a programme of on-the-job training for those with additional challenges in life, such as people with learning disabilities or mental health issues. Wherever possible, this ethical small business looks to support and assist people with paid employment opportunities. They’re also zero-waste and have a crowdfunding page to help with running costs, training, and mentoring. And, if their philanthropic focus wasn’t enough, they’ve also built themselves a stellar reputation for serving the tastiest vegan cuisine south of the Thames! But, at the end of the day, they put social good and giving back at the centre of everything they do. And here at Medlock, we couldn’t have been happier to do our part to bring their refreshed vision to life.Cafe Van Gogh asked us to submit a cost for the café’s refurbishment using our extensive network of industry contacts. The scope of works included the manufacturing and installation of a new brass- and ceramic-clad bar, an ash-veneered coffee station, and re-upholstered bench seating. On top of that, we had to install new lighting, reconfigure the existing power setup, and tile and redecorate some of the existing ceiling. We completed the modern, stylish upgrade within a two-week window, in time for the re-launch and re-opening to take place as planned in mid-September. We’re so pleased with the results of our team’s hard work, and to see this wonderful location reopen and continue the amazing work they do for lives across London.Check out some of the completed pictures below![custom_show_gallery]
